ĐẶC TRƯNG VÀ CẤU TRÚC CỦA CHƯƠNG TRÌNH TIẾNG ANH DỰ BỊ

Chương trình đào tạo Tiếng Anh dự bị (TADB) của Trường Quốc tế – ĐHQGHN giúp sinh viên có đủ năng lực để tham gia kỳ thi lấy chứng chỉ tiếng Anh trước khi vào học chính thức chương trình chuyên môn bằng tiếng Anh. Chương trình được thiết kế bao gồm 5 khóa học (gồm khóa học bổ sung kiến thức ngôn ngữ Foundation) và 4 cấp độ kĩ năng thực hành tiếng (nghe, nói, đọc, viết), nhằm trang bị cho sinh viên năng lực tiếng Anh đạt trình độ B2 theo Khung tham chiếu Châu Âu. Sau khi hoàn thành chương trình Tiếng Anh dự bị, sinh viên sẽ nắm vững kiến thức ngôn ngữ cơ bản và chuyên sâu, có khả năng thi đỗ các chứng chỉ ngôn ngữ quốc tế như chứng chỉ ngoại ngữ Bậc 4 (theo Khung năng lực ngoại ngữ 6 bậc dùng cho Việt Nam), IELTS, TOFEL, APTIS…

Với năng lực tiếng Anh mà Chương trình TADB trang bị, sinh viên có thể theo học các chương trình đào tạo đại học và sau đại học tại Trường Quốc tế hoặc đi du học.

Với đội ngũ giảng viên giỏi, giàu kinh nghiệm luyện thi các chứng chỉ tiếng Anh, quy trình quản lý chất lượng khoa học, chặt chẽ, sự hỗ trợ của mentor là các sinh viên giỏi tiếng Anh, và môi trường tiếng Anh của Trường Quốc tế, những năm qua tỉ lệ sinh viên thi được chứng chỉ B2 ngay sau 2 tiểu học kỳ (intake) ngày càng cao, năm học 2021-2022 đạt gần 70%; và hầu hết sinh viên đã có chứng chỉ B2 sau 1 năm học tiếng Anh dự bị dù cho nhiều bạn đầu vào tiếng Anh chỉ là con số không và phải bắt đầu học từ khóa Foundation.

OVERVIEW OF GENERAL ENGLISH PROGRAM

1. The course

General English Program at VNU-IS is generally tailored for students who have completed the prescribed English program at their upper secondary school.

This program is designed to cater for the needs of the students taking into account the following considerations:

• To provide students with the ability to communicate fluently in English in such a way that they can study their majors in English at a university.
• To incorporate a certain degree of flexibility where students can make their choice of selecting a discipline at a later stage rather than at the beginning of the course.

The teaching method applied during the program is the communicative learner-centred one. Through pair-works, group-works, various assessment methods and with the instructions from highly qualified Vietnamese lecturers and English native speaker lecturers, students will gradually improve their language skills and knowledge. Moreover, students will be able to adopt an active learning method by taking advantage of the modern facilities and equipment like the library, the Internet and other learning management systems.

2. Rationale

• To provide students with the linguistic knowledge such as vocabulary and grammar which they can make best use of in improving their four language skills (reading, writing, listening and speaking).
• To help students understand the culture of English speaking countries as well as that of Vietnam.
• To help students become acquainted with and practise the fundamental learning skills at university like making presentations and writing reports on basic researches.

3. Duration            

• This program lasts 1 year divided into 5 levels, 8 weeks/level.
• There are 20 hours/week, which are divided into 5 sessions. Each session has 4 hours (equivalent to 2 blocks, 2 hours/block)
