As part of a series of training activities aimed at improving the teaching methods for lecturers in the academic year 2023-2024, the workshop “Translation: From Theory to Practice” organized by the Faculty of Applied Linguistics took place on December 12, 2023. The speaker at the workshop was Mr. Ngo Quang Anh, Deputy Head of the Department of Translation and Interpretation, Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Attending the workshop were Associate Professor Nguyen Quang Thuan, Vice Rector of the university; Head of the Faculty of Applied Linguistics, Associate Professor Nguyễn Viet Hung, and all the faculty members in the Department. The workshop also had the participation, both in-person and online, of faculty members from other institutions, including Hanoi Open University, Thang Long University, Luong The Vinh University, University of Labor and Social Affairs, Phenikaa University, University of Commerce, Hanoi University of Economics and Technology, and Hung Yen University of Technical Education.
During the workshop, attending faculty members had the opportunity to listen to Mr. Ngo Quang Anh, Deputy Head of the Department of Translation and Interpretation, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, sharing practical experiences in interpretation and translation activities. With over 16 years of experience in the field and direct involvement in interpreting and translating for numerous national and international events, Mr. Ngo Quang Anh brought valuable knowledge and practical experience to the attending faculty members. They also had the chance to engage in discussions and exchange ideas with Mr. Ngo Quang Anh regarding practical aspects of teaching interpretation and translation courses.
At the end of the workshop, Dr. Nguyen Viet Hung, Head of the Faculty of Applied Linguistics, delivered the concluding speech and shared his gratitude to Mr. Ngo Quang Anh for his dedicated and insightful knowledge, which greatly benefited the lecturers of the Faculty of Applied Linguistics in particular, and all the participating faculty members in general.
Guest speaker of the workshop, Mr. Ngo Quang Anh, also expressed his gratitude to the leadership of the International University and the Faculty of Applied Linguistics for providing him with the opportunity to share his translation experiences with all participating faculty members, contributing to the training of future generations of students with strong translation and interpretation skills.
