On September 27, 2024, the International School of Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU-IS) hosted a meeting with Malaysian partners, including the Consulate General of Malaysia in Ho Chi Minh City and HELP University, Malaysia (HELP), to enhance cooperation in academic affairs.
The meeting featured representatives from both institutions: Dr. Azriey Bin Mazlan, Consul for Education, and Ms. Nguyen Thi Nhiem, Assistant of Education Malaysia from the Consulate General; Prof. Stephen Wu Ghee Kean, Vice-Rector, and Ms. Nguyen Thu Thuy, Country Manager for Vietnam from HELP; along with representatives from VNU-IS such as Dr. Nguyen Van Hai, Deputy Head of Research and Partnership Development Office, Ms. Pham Do Hoai Nam from Academic Affairs Office and other staff from offices of Academic Affairs Student Affairs, and Research and Partnership Development.
During the meeting, Dr. Azriey Bin Mazlan introduced the Consulate, outlining its mission in education development, including objectives, programs, partners, and future strategies. He emphasized the importance of fostering cooperation between Malaysian and Vietnamese universities, particularly with VNU-IS. The Consulate aims to provide Vietnamese students with easier and more affordable opportunities to study in Malaysia, as well as offering pathways for new graduates seeking employment in Malaysia after completing their studies. Dr. Azriey expressed a desire to collaborate closely with VNU-IS to promote such initiatives.
The meeting also included in-depth discussions between HELP and VNU-IS regarding the dual degree program in Marketing. Topics covered included the plan for student transfers to HELP in February 2025, student enrollment for the dual degree in Marketing for the 2025 cohort (Batch 5), and updates on student admissions for the 2024-2025 cohorts (Batches 4 and 5). Both institutions are exploring opportunities for joint graduate training programs and will continue discussions on launching a joint MBA degree program in the near future. The meeting concluded with productive discussions and promising outcomes.
In 2024, the International School and HELP University extended the the Agreement for the Bachelor in Marketing (VNU degree) and Bachelor of Marketing (Honours) (HELP degree). So far, more than 300 students have enrolled in the program, with the first batch successfully transferring to HELP University for one semester in January 2023.
