The closing ceremony of the 344th quality assessment session based on AUN-QA standards for bachelor’s and master’s programs at HNU took place on August 31, 2023.
Attending the closing ceremony were expert groups from AUN-QA for quality accreditation, led by Prof. Dr. Wan Ahmad Kamil Mahmood. Representing VNU were the Board of Directors from the International School, the Vietnam-Japan University, the Law University, the Institute for Educational Quality Assurance; representatives from various functional departments and faculties where the programs being accredited this time are housed.
Over the two working days from August 29 to 30, 2023, the accreditation expert group met with leaders, lecturers, staff, students, alumni, and recruiters of the programs being accredited; they also toured the school’s facilities to gain a more comprehensive assessment of these training programs. The version 4.0 evaluation criteria set by AUN-QA has been streamlined from 11 criteria down to 8. Of these, 4 pertain to the training program, including learning objectives, content and program structure, teaching and learning approaches, and learner assessment; 3 relate to resources, including academic staff, student support services, and physical infrastructure; and 1 pertains to outcomes and results. These criteria are evaluated on a scale of 1-7.
The evaluation team worked diligently and actively for two days at the International School.
At the closing ceremony, members of the AUN-QA evaluation team presented preliminary results of the accreditation for the bachelor’s programs in International Business and Accounting, Analyzing, and Auditing. They highlighted the common strengths of both programs and the achievements in various aspects: program content, teaching and learning methods, student assessment, staff and faculty quality, student support services, infrastructure and facilities, and post-graduation employment. Based on the AUN-QA evaluation scale, they assessed the conditions ensuring the quality of the training programs. Notably, the evaluation team also pointed out areas of improvement for each program and proposed measures to enhance the quality of education.
The head of the evaluation team, Prof. Dr. Wan Ahmad Kamil Mahmood, highly appreciated the efforts of VNU and its member units in meticulously preparing for this accreditation session.
The representative of the evaluation team commented on the Accounting, Analyzing, and Auditing program.
As a founding member of AUN, from the very beginning, VNU has been committed to promoting educational quality assurance. Over the past 30 years, VNU has participated in 15 specialized networks under AUN, of which it has been a part of the AUN-QA network for nearly 20 years. To date, about 48 training programs at VNU have been accredited by AUN-QA, demonstrating the close relationship between AUN-QA and VNU.
The representative of the evaluation team commented on the International Business program.
With the goal of becoming on par with advanced universities in the region, the International School has always prioritized accreditation and improving the quality of its education. To date, the School has had 2 programs that have achieved ministry-level certification, and 1 program that has completed external evaluation. The school has been rated by the UPM University Quality Comparative Rating System as overall achieving a 4-star PLUS standard in the application-oriented direction, with a total score of 729/1000.
The evaluation team took a commemorative photo with the leaders, faculty, and staff of VNU.
