Numerous New Studies on AI Algorithms Applied in Life at International Conference on Integrated Circuit Design and Verification

On June 6-7, 2024, International School – Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU) in collaboration with the IEEE CAS Vietnam Chapter and Institute of Information Technology – VNU organized the 9th International Conference with the theme “Integrated Circuit Design and Verification” (ICDV 2024).

ICDV 2024 mainly focuses on developing AI algorithm acceleration hardware, aiming to develop AI chips for edge computing.

The conference attracted the attention of nearly 100 experts and scientists in the field of integrated circuits from both domestic and international communities. The conference featured 6 plenary keynote speeches, 4 invited session presentations, and 48 selected scientific papers presented at the conference out of a total of 109 registered scientific works from various countries and territories around the world (Japan, China, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Canada, South Korea, Saudi Arabia, Romania, the United States, Guatemala, Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines, Taiwan (China), India, and Vietnam). The acceptance rate of 44% will contribute to enhancing the conference’s prestige and provide a comprehensive view of the semiconductor industry worldwide.

At ICDV 2024, International School faculty members participated as chairs in 2 parallel sessions. Notably, a scholar from the school, Professor Oscal Tzyh-Chiang Chen from Chung Cheng National University (Taiwan, China), was the keynote speaker at the conference. A significant number of International School students participated in writing papers, with 9 papers selected by the organizers for presentation in parallel sessions.

Since its first organization under the name “IC Design in Vietnam” in 2010, the conference was renamed to “Integrated Circuit Design and Verification” (ICDV) in 2013 to cover more aspects of IC design and the semiconductor industry, gaining interest from many countries, not just Vietnam. The conference brings a wealth of information and engaging exchanges to the scientific community and stakeholders interested in semiconductor IC design and applications.

Currently, the trend of artificial intelligence is rapidly developing, primarily focusing on large models, mainly offering opportunities for large corporations and companies. However, recently, the trend of building distributed AI applications, bringing AI algorithms to edge computing, edge devices, IoT devices, etc., is gradually gaining dominance, creating a new technological trend – the development of AI chips. This year’s ICDV conference mainly focuses on developing AI algorithm acceleration hardware, aiming to develop AI chips for edge computing to be applied in life, particularly for national defense and security in the near future.
