English for Specific Purposes courses are offered in the majority of bachelor’s degree programs at VNU International School. The courses’ objectives are providing students with fundamental knowledge and terminology related to various economic topics, while also developing their listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills in English to better prepare them for further academic studies or works in the fields of business and management.

Course description:

English for Specific Purposes provides students with:

– Comprehensive vocabulary and basic concepts related to topics such as brands, logistics, business transformations, organizational structures, advertising, finance, culture, human resources, international markets, ethics, leadership skills, and competition.

– Enhanced listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills to improve their abilities to communicate effectively in business environment.

– Presentation skills on topics relevant to the subjects studied.

English for Academic Purposes courses are taught in all bachelor’s degree programs at VNU International School. The main objective of these courses is to provide students with knowledge related to academic topics and equip them with necessary skills for knowledge acquisition at university, such as English reading comprehension, English academic writing, and presentation skills. These courses lay the foundation for long-term improvement throughout students’ time studying at university and in their work and personal lives in the future.

Course description:

English for Academic Purposes 1 (INS1014) is designed for intermediate to advanced students to help them acquire knowledge and be able to express their viewpoints and concepts in academic settings in English through the four skills of Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing. Main topics include social issues, family, social relationships, the environment, and globalization. The course focuses on essay writing and presentation skills which are necessary skills for subsequent courses.

English for Academic Purposes 2 (INS1015) provides students with basic knowledge of how to write an academic research paper and how to write an essay evaluating critically an academic paper. Additionally, the course helps students understand current widely debated topics around the world and express their own viewpoints on these topics through speaking or writing. As a result, students will be equipped with effective English skills for essay writing, text-based communication, and presentation.
