Fruitful cooperation opportunities in the field of Biomedical Engineering Technology

On May 24th, 2023, International School – Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU-IS) hosted an international workshop “Biomedical Engineering Technology: Prospects and Opportunities”.

The speaker of the program is Prof. Chia-Ching Wu – professor at National Cheng Kung University, Taiwan, Deputy Director of the International Center for Wound Repair and Reconstruction (iWRR) and Prof. Dr. Nguyen Duc Thuan – expert in Biomedical Engineering of VNU International School. Prof. Dr. Chia-Ching Wu has more than 110 international publications at WoS/Scopus, the H-index is 22 with a total of more than 1100 citations. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Duc Thuan is the “father” of Biomedical Engineering at Hanoi University of Science and Technology. Currently, Prof. Nguyen Duc Thuan has more than 100 works published domestically and internationally, 10 monographs and 2 patents.

During the program, the two speakers shared a lot of useful information about research directions in the field of wound repair and reconstruction and the field of biomedical engineering. Prof. Dr. Chia-Ching Wu said that his research group focuses mainly on the study of the principle and clinical application of Smart Negative Pressure Wound Therapy (Smart-NPWT). With remote monitoring capabilities, Smart-NPWT enhances wound care management. Smart-NPWT allows physicians to timely adjust therapy based on wound progress and helps ensure that treatment is optimized for each patient. In addition, GS. Chia-Ching Wu also shared more about the Biomedical Engineering training programs at National Cheng Kung University.

Prof. Chia-Ching Wu said the team focuses on research in the area of Wound Repair and Reconstruction.

Prof. Nguyen Duc Thuan introduced research orientation in the field of biomedical engineering being implemented at VNU International School and the master’s program in Biomedical Engineering Technology. In particular, Prof. Nguyen Duc Thuan also expressed his hope that in the future the two units will jointly implement many cooperation activities in training and research.
