From April 15 to 17, 2024, International School – VNU organized a series of activities to celebrate Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day. The program, with a variety of engaging activities, attracted widespread interest from the school’s staff, lecturers, trainees, and students.
On April 15 and 16, the school held a book fair at the Trinh Van Bo campus. Charming book stalls were set up in the lobby on the first floor, offering a diverse selection of books on personal development, psychology, literature, communication skills, business, intellectual self-help, and critical thinking. Each staff member, lecturer, and student found favorite books for themselves and gifts for their family members, spreading their love and passion for reading.
On April 17, the school welcomed a special guest speaker, Mr. Tran Viet Quan, Director and Lecturer at the Polytechnic Training Institute, to discuss the topic “Living Values in Education.” He is also a co-founder and advisor of the Happy Village system nationwide, he has over 20 years of experience in Eastern studies, physiognomy, HR management, Japanese ethics, and core personality education. His deep and meaningful presentation highlighted core lessons of the teaching profession, methods to foster resilience in students, and ways to develop a reading and self-learning culture within the student community.
Throughout the session, Mr. Tran Viet Quan emphasized the values of Ethics, Intelligence, and Resilience as the foundation and core values for building a happy school environment, highlighting the crucial role of educators in inspiring character, shaping futures, and developing virtuous individuals.
These are also the values and philosophies that International School-VNU practices in its education. In the context of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, the school aims for its graduates to possess high values, willpower, resilience, intelligence, lifelong learning abilities, global working capacity, and rapid adaptability to any changes in the future.
Moreover, the speaker offered valuable advice on creating a reading culture, emphasizing the need to reach every staff member, lecturer, trainee, and student. Establishing a reading-friendly environment and diversifying the library’s book offerings are also critical to drawing more students to the library.
With a community of 6,000 students and over 200 staff members and lecturers, International School – VNU recognizes the importance of developing and promoting a reading culture, a key task in its development strategy. The school aims to build and promote a unique reading culture, fostering a widespread passion for reading among its staff, lecturers, trainees, and students, hoping that everywhere on campus, students will be seen engrossed in books or enthusiastically debating the books they have read.
