Nguyen Thi Nhu Quynh, a student majoring in International Business at International School – Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU), has excellently won the first prize in the VNU’s Cultural Reading Ambassador Contest, along with two students from the University of Education and the University of Languages and International Studies. This is the second consecutive year that a student from the school has achieved a high award in this contest.

Overcoming 2,463 entries, the top 50 most outstanding contestants of the VNU’s Cultural Reading Ambassador Contest were revealed. The contest, now in its fifth year, has made significant positive impacts in spreading the passion for book reading among all age groups, especially students and pupils. VNU is one of the institutions with many students enthusiastically participating. With a rich historical tradition, VNU will continue to inspire and promote the passion for reading among its students and pupils in the future. In 2023, International School submitted 10 entries to the contest, proudly having 6 candidates among the top 35 outstanding contestants.

Unlike other young people, the Cultural Reading Ambassador of VNU, Nguyen Thi Nhu Quynh, chose to write about a literary book, “Nobody’s Boy” by French author Hector Malot. Quynh wishes to “spread to everyone not just the love for books but also appreciation and affection for the familiar things in life.” “I hope the school can organize community activities related to books such as reading to children, in collaboration with some volunteer organizations. This will help students feel that they are contributing to society and encourage reading among children. Above all, help students understand that reading is not only an academic task but also an enriching and enjoyable experience,” shared Quynh.

According to the organizers, the quality of the entries in the VNU’s Cultural Reading Ambassador Contest has gradually improved over the years with the extensive participation of students. Thus, VNU students will be able to leverage their advantages, bringing to the community messages and proposals to realize their dreams and aspirations, contributing to the mission of ‘Revitalizing culture and developing reading culture’.
