From August 7-8, 2024, the International School of Vietnam National University hosted a pre-assessment and consultation workshop to enhance the quality of our academic programs in preparation for ABET accreditation (Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology). The three programs undergoing accreditation are: Applied Information Technology, Financial Technology and Digital Business, and Industrial Systems and Logistics Engineering.”
The evaluation team included Dr. Nguyen Hua Phung and Dr. Nguyen Huy Hoang – ABET accreditation experts from the University of Technology, Ho Chi Minh National University.
Representing the International School were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Dinh – Vice Rector, Dr. Nguyen Quang Thuan – Vice Rector, and representatives from various departments, and faculty from the Department of Applied Sciences.”
Vice Rector Nguyen Van Dinh welcomed and worked with the two experts on the first day.
Over the two-day working, after reviewing the university’s documentation and touring the facilities, the two experts held a meeting with faculties and staff. They provided a detailed explanation of ABET accreditation standards and offered recommendations for the programs for seeking accreditation. The experts consulted the university to standardize the entire evaluation system and quality assurance processes, develop a highly qualified faculty, and invest in optimal facilities to support teaching, learning, and ABET program evaluation.
The experts listened to a presentation about the school, followed by document review and site visits.
At the meeting, Assoc.Prof.Dr Nguyen Van Dinh expressed gratitude to the experts for their support in the assessment and consultation. The university will research and implement the necessary actions for accreditation in the coming period.

ABET, the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology, is a U.S based organization that accredits engineering and technology programs. Its accreditation is highly valued internationally. ABET standards are considered as the global “gold standard” for evaluating the quality of engineering and technology education at a university. Accreditation by ABET signifies international recognition of the quality of a university’s programs in the accredited fields.

The Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET), based in the United States, is a highly valuable accreditation worldwide, recognized as in top tier by both businesses and universities. As a result, any university whose programs achieve ABET accreditation benefits greatly from the recognition, providing significant advantages for their students. Currently, 18 programs at 7 universities in Vietnam have achieved ABET accreditation.
