Two groups of students from the Automation and Artificial Intelligence (AAI) department at International School – National University (VNU) had the honor of participating in the final round of the “UET – Makerthon 2023” competition and achieved the two highest awards: the championship prize belonging to the team consisting of Pham Tuan Minh (AAI K20), Nguyen Thu Huong (AAI-K21), and Vu Huy Khai (AAI K21); and the second prize belonging to the team of Do Thuy Trang (AAI K21) and Nguyen Kim Chinh (AAI K21).

The Makerthon 2023 competition, organized by the VNU University of Engineering and Technology, had the theme of “Autonomous Vehicles.” The competition started in October and attracted the interest of students from various universities and high schools, with 33 teams participating in the preliminary round, selecting eight teams to advance to the final round.

The final round presented numerous unforeseen challenges, including an outdoor competition venue with varying lighting conditions, an uneven and rough playing surface, the presence of multiple judges from business entities conducting direct interviews, and a sizable live audience actively observing and cheering on the participants. However, both teams exerted their utmost efforts to overcome these challenges within a limited timeframe and achieve the highest scores. Following a process where each team had 5 minutes for trial performance, official competition, and answering questions from the judging panel, the competition identified and awarded the outstanding teams.

This is the first year of International School participating in this competition and have achieved remarkable results. It stands as a significant encouragement and support for all students of the International School, inspiring them to pursue further studies and unlock their potential for future accomplishments.
